The article reveals the infrastructure changes in rural settlements of the South of Russia due to collective farm construction. The author marks positive and negative trends in settlement construction, and shows how the appearance of the settlements changed in the second half of the 1930s. The article also shows what benefits of civilization became available to rural residents as a result of the Soviet transformations. The author explains why many problems of improvement had not been resolved by the end of the 1930s.
