Chekhov's last psalm: «The bishop»

The author considers the work of A.P. Chekhov "Bishop" in the light of two aspects of the problem of the biblical tradition. The first aspect is the ethical and artistic nature of Chekhov's interpretation of evangelical plots and images, as well as "genres" as ways of epic realization. The second aspect of the study is connected with the problem of Chekhov's attitude toward religion and the Christian faith.
