The article deals with actual problems of the methodology of teaching the Chinese language, in particular the problem of the sequence of studying the characters and the possibility of their systematization. The main elements of the Chinese writing system and features of construction of complex hieroglyphs are described. General and particular recommendations on the organization of the educational process are proposed.
