The abolition of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation in 2014 is one of the most significant reforms of the Russian judicial system. As a result of this reform, powers were transferred to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, leading to changes in the structure of arbitration proceedings. This reform was accompanied by debates about the advisability of eliminating this specialized body, which over the years has formed a uniform practice for resolving economic disputes and business-related cases. This article examines the reasons for this reform, its legal and economic consequences, its impact on the independence of arbitration courts, and accessibility of justice for businesses. It analyzes how the transfer of powers affected law enforcement practices and the resolution of commercial disputes, assesses the effectiveness of the reform, and provides recommendations for further improvement of the judicial system.
