Posthumous wreath for Sergey Yesenin: on the eve of the poet’s anniversary year

This article summarizes and analyzes the reaction of domestic and foreign newspapers to the tragic death of Sergei Yesenin in December 1925. These responses by journalists and various experts re ect the ambiguous circumstances of the poet's death, as well as the assessments of the events by various actors. Trough the prism of such assessments, one can see not only the di erent attitudes toward Yesenin's personality, in cluding based on his convictions, but also the overall features of the process of forming the political agenda of that time, demonstrating the signi cance of the poet's gure in the cultural and social life of Russia.
