Postmodernism: the continuation of the social and cultural paradigm or its completion?

The study considers the viewpoint of Russian researchers who declare the end of the postmodern era and the beginning of a new social and cultural paradigm defined as post-postmodernism. The author describes the components of social life such as virtualization, the power of technology, the increasing scope of media influence, the creation of a new life matrix under the daily dominant technology, and the development of novel strategies for overcoming the challenges of the modern world. The study demonstrates that all these components are present in postmodernism and cannot serve as an indicator of the coming sociocultural shift which allows us to detect fundamental changes in both society and the individual and identify the prospects for its development today. The research highlights the characteristics of postmodern culture and analyzes the values of Millennials belonging to postmodern space on formal grounds and failing to reflect post-postmodernist features. Thanks to the proliferation of media, the source of confidence is represented by the majority opinion on any situation rather than robust moral guidelines.
