The article discusses approaches to the sanctions for sexual crimes in the Russian criminal law of XVII-XIX centuries, in particular, in the Cathedral Code of 1649, the Military Regulation of 1715, and the Code of Criminal and Corrective Sentences of 1845. The author traces the improvement of the criminal responsibility differentiation for such crimes, manifested itself in the development of the system of penalties.
