Research relevance: this article deals with the border-territorial disputes between the states of Central Asia after gaining independence. The inconsistency of individual sections of the borders introduces tension into interstate relations and complicates the daily life of residents of border areas. The situation is aggravated by the presence of enclaves. Research objectives: historically narrative analysis of the processes of border-territorial settlement between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan until 2016. Only after Sh. Mirziyev came to power in Uzbekistan, great positive changes occurred in this area. Research materials and methods: border issues between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan settled with neighboring Central Asian states, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, whose borders meet in the Ferghana Valley, and their territorial problems. Research results: most incidents at the borders tend to be due to disputes over infrastructure, land and water resources, and construction in disputed areas. Conclusions: it can be concluded that the arbitrary, thoughtless drawing of inter-republican borders in Central Asia is a factor that gave rise to the problem of ethnic enclaves, as well as the struggle for land and water resources between the states of the region.
