The article discusses the possibilities of theater pedagogy in teaching Literature. The project "Theatre at school" acts as active technique for study of literary works. Theatricality as a teaching method has a long tradition in pedagogy, what provides its fruitful development in modern education. The innovative character of the project "Theatre at school" lies in social and professional partnership of school teachers (philologists) and professional theater actors. Producers and actors help teachers, linguists and students to stage plays based on Russian classical literary works. The experience of project implementation on the stage of Ulan-Ude Youth Art Theater shows the increase of pupil’s personal motivation to read and study literary works. Participation of schoolchildren in project is considered as a way of educating aesthetic culture and a means of socialization.
