The potential of public participation in the context of social solidarity

Sociological analysis revealed that under certain conditions about two-thirds of the population can be interpreted as a reserve of public initiatives and movements. Civil participation in the public consciousness gradually assumes the character of the modal value and is not regarded as a marginal practice. The relationship between the attitude between institutionalized public participation and such indicators of social solidarity as satisfaction with the relationship in the close social groups and the trust to public and state institutions is detected. Thus, favorable social climate in local communities doesn't depend only on the level of civic engagement and the willingness of participants to its manifestation, but on the result of the development of activist practices and attitudes.
