The article is devoted to industrial tourism as a niche and promising direction of development of the tourist and recreational complex of the Russian Federation. The Strategy for the Tourism Development in the Russian Federation until 2035 defines the development prospects for this tourist activity. Industrial tourism is considered by the authors as visits and activities at the site that allow visitors to understand the processes and secrets of production related to the past, present or future. This interpretation reflects the current preferences of tourists in obtaining new unique knowledge and skills. Industrial tourism in the Russian Federation is at the stage of formation, characterized by heterogeneity and focality. The level of industrial development, specialization in the most popular areas of industrial tourism, transport accessibility, institutional factors (the allocation of industrial tourism as a priority in the program documents of the subject), and the level of tourism development of the subject of the Russian Federation are the main parameters of the assessment. Scoring and classification methods allowed us to obtain partial estimates for each of the subjects of the Russian Federation, as well as the final one, based on the value of the integral indicator of the industrial tourism potential. Based on the results of the study, a map-diagram is constructed.
