The author considers interdiscourse potential to be a type of discourse heterogeneity in fiction. The notion under study reflects the idea of latent nature of a linguistic sign that may be manifested in a random and asymmetric mode. The suggested analysis reveals interdiscourse potential on the level of words and idioms
