The article presents the history of surgical treatment of injuries of the peripheral nervous system. The full range of surgical interventions used in the treatment of peripheral nervous system injuries is presented: neurolysis, epineural suture, neurotization, autoneuroplasty, tendon-muscle transpositions, arthrodesis, bone resection, neuromodulation. The basics of nerve regeneration are highlighted. The scientific literature on the use of conduits, stromal vascular fraction, and anti-adhesive compositions is analyzed. An important role in the successful treatment of injuries of the peripheral nervous system is assigned to various types of adjuvant therapy: orthotics, drug therapy, electrical stimulation of the damaged nerve, physiotherapy, physical therapy. Various interventional interventions are also used in the treatment of peripheral nerve damage: radiofrequency neuroablation, cryoneurolysis.
