The research examined the changes in everyday life of Yakutsk school students in the early years of the Great Patriotic War; the transformation of their lessons was described. Thus, in addition to tuition, boys and girls gathered crops from the fields, received universal military training, became the members of the Timur movement, collected donations (money, clothes) and sent them to the military front. To provide families of school students with clothes and food was the urgent task. At the same time, the priority was given to the financial support for soldiers’ children. The availability of schools and their staff in the city were discussed. The author concluded that, despite the military situation and sending a large part of the population to the front, Yakutsk continued to develop during the period under review. In particular, new dwelling houses, schools, theatres, and cinemas were built and used; in summer, a city park was open.
