This article, based on the works and experience of a number of scientists, analyzes the daily life of students and teaching staff in Soviet Russia in the 1920s-1930s. The author, examining the works of her colleagues, comes to the conclusion that their works reflect the most important spectrum of everyday life: the mood, the way of life in higher education, the material side of life, the emergence and implementation of ideology, and, as a result, the displacement of the «old school» from higher education. The forms of student self-organization created for mutual assistance are shown. The article concludes that the everyday life of higher education after the revolutionary period has undergone a lot of changes, which led to a deterioration in the financial situation of teachers and students. The teaching staff of the «old school» in large cities was squeezed into the regions, which in turn served to preserve the traditions of teaching at the higher school of imperial Russia up to our time.
