The Khangalov’s diary (340 pages) from 1910 to November 1911 is kept in the collection of the Buryat History Museum and includes three main topics: shamanism, school activities, daily life and social life of the modern Osinsky district of Irkutsk Oblast. The article presents the materials (pp. 1-278 of the diary, vol. 1, dated June 12, 1910 - January 4, 1911) of Matvey Nikolaevich Khangalov's family daily life in Bilchir village of Irkutsk gubernia. During this period M. N. Khangalov worked in the foreign parish Bilchir school, and due to his efforts it was transformed into Bilchir Nikolaevsky 2-class school with a 6-year course of study. The diary reveals the personality of M. N. Khangalov as the head of the family, who solves the family problems in everyday life, describing also his family household and members. Summer troubles of the family are connected with moving to a new apartment, buying food, hay-making, etc. The description of the reverent and tender attitude to the only daughter Sonya, showed in the diary, attracts attention. Thinking about the fact that at the end of August Sonechka should be taken to gymnasium, he laments that how quickly time passes. It is interesting that the author of the diary constantly writes about household work with his wife without referring to her by her name.
