Increasing the efficiency of waterless cleaning of tuberous roots

The article substantiates the need to improve the technological process of cleaning tuberous roots from contaminants. Known devices for waterless cleaning cannot provide the required quality, due to low efficiency, or due to significant damage to tuberous roots. A principle of operation of the device is proposed, in which the cleaning of tuberous roots from contaminants occurs due to the combined effect of vibration and brush working elements on the processed material. When conducting experimental studies, the method of regression analysis was used; the efficiency of cleaning tuberous roots was chosen as an optimization criterion. Based on the data obtained, a regression equation was compiled that was adequate for a five percent significance level. Parameters have been determined, such as the frequency of rotation of the brush shaft, the frequency and amplitude of reciprocating oscillations, as well as the supply of material, which directly characterize the quality of cleaning from contaminants. Visual response surfaces of the dependence of cleaning efficiency on the studied parameters in two-dimensional and three-dimensional factor space were constructed. Rational values of the operating parameters of the proposed device were obtained. The demand for the purifier in agricultural enterprises has been determined.
