Treatment efficacy of prostate cancer patients

This study was designed to analyze the long-term treatment results for 92 prostate cancer patients who received external beam radiation therapy in combination with local transurethral hyperthermia under conditions of hormonotherapy and patients who received combined hormonal and radiation therapies. The 3-year survival rate in patients with localized prostate cancer was 100 % in the studied group and 88 % in the control group. The 5-year survival rate was 88 % in the study group patients and 34 % in the control group patients. For patients with stage III prostate cancer, the 3-and 5-year survival rates were 75 % and 72 % in the study group and 62 % and 25 % in the control group, respectively. For patients with stage IV prostate cancer, the 3-and 5-year survival rates were 78 % and 40 % in the study group and 35 % and 0 % in the control group patients, respectively.
