Increasing the efficiency of managing the assortment of a trading enterprise on the basis of statistical data analysis methods

The article discusses approaches to assessing individual economic indicators of a trading company and suggests ways to improve the management of the assortment of goods sold using statistical data analysis methods. The approach to managing retail sales through the formation of the assortment field of a retail store is considered. The concepts of gross trade margin and the number of commodity items in checks for the study period are considered as criteria for optimization. Based on them, a number of commodity items are built to improve the existing assortment field in terms of gross margin and the amount of penetration into checks. Taking into account preliminary data grouping, the choice of the optimal number of clusters is justified. As a statistical estimation method, the method of cluster analysis based on k-means is used. As a result of the analysis, definitions are given of such concepts as a traffic generator and a margin trading generator. Ways are proposed to increase the efficiency of product mix management through the dynamic formation of a product matrix based on identified margin generators and consumer traffic generators using a specific outlet.
