Improving the energy efficiency of Russian regions as a state task

Normative legal documents adopted in our country in the field of electric power industry impose obligatory requirements to improve energy efficiency of the Russian Federation and its constituent entities. The materials of this article are intended to contribute to the implementation of the state task. The article presents the results of a study related to determining the degree of mutual influence and interdependence of the energy supply of the region, the energy intensity of the region and the gross regional product per capita in order to improve regional energy efficiency. To do this, paired correlation coefficients are calculated, data on energy consumption in various sectors of the regional economy and types of production are analyzed, typological grouping of the country’s regions by three components is carried out. The obtained results allow regional authorities to make necessary decisions both strategically and tactically, taking into account the specifics and regional energy assets, aimed at improving the energy efficiency of the region.
