The article explores the impact of learning to play chess on the cognitive development of younger school-aged children. Particular attention is given to the use of the hierarchical system of educational objectives developed by B. Bloom as a methodological foundation for structuring the educational program. Chess, with its significant potential for intellectual growth, is presented as a means of purposefully shaping cognitive processes such as attention, memory, logical thinking, forecasting, and analytical activity. Quantitative data are provided, demonstrating a positive dynamic in the development of key cognitive functions, as well as a high level of engagement and intellectual activity among the children. The findings highlight the effectiveness of chess as a tool for comprehensive cognitive development within the framework of primary education.
