The relevance of this study is that a comprehensive study of the positive aspects of foreign law enforcement work to provide public assistance to police forces in maintaining law and order can allow us to identify the most effective approaches that will further contribute to the improvement of the law enforcement practice under consideration in our country. Based on the theoretical foundations of this work, the author used modern scientific research on the analyzed issues as its methodological base, including data obtained from various sources that provided all the necessary conditions for an objective comprehensive analysis, as well as a complete and comprehensive study of modern positive experience of interaction between law enforcement officers and the public abroad. In the process of studying foreign experience of joint activities of the police and the population, it becomes obvious that active support by society of law enforcement agencies in the work to maintain law and order, with their sharing of responsibility for ensuring the safety of the population, can be successful only with a high degree of trust of citizens. Moreover, the comradely relations between society and the police, formed taking into account the designated trust, are built abroad and subsequently based on mutual responsibility, responsiveness and equal conditions for all participants in the cooperation in question. The development of partnership and comradely relations between society and law enforcement officers will undoubtedly serve as a good support for increasing the authority and credit of trust provided by representatives of the people to the servants of law and order. An analysis of foreign experience in the interaction of the population and the police shows that its various positive aspects could well be introduced into domestic practice. Adapted to the realities of Russian law enforcement officers, this type of foreign law enforcement work will further generate the most useful ideas. Taking into account the Russian reality, they could well be implemented in practical activities to maintain law and order.
