More than two decades have passed since J. Nye introduced the concept of soft power. In today's information age, soft power is becoming increasingly important. Soft power depends largely on the persuasiveness of free information, and free information includes advertising and news in various media. This article explores the coverage of Chinese and Russian media in the course of promoting the soft power of states. The authors emphasize that the governments of both countries adhere to a single plan, the broadcasting of state-owned media directly serves national strategic interests and strategic goals, which contributes to building up the soft power of states.
