The purpose of the work is to analyze the fundamental ideas regarding the legal status of the individual in the doctrine of Cuban socialism. Historical-legal, comparative-legal and formal-legal methods were used in the article. The main factors and principles peculiar to the Cuban constitutional and legal doctrine concerning the relationship of a person with the institutions of society and the state are formulated and developed. The article shows the evolution of the Cuban constitutional and legal norms that determine the legal status of an individual, emphasizes the influence on its formation of both the ideas of the national liberation movement and the legal concepts and doctrines that dominate in large countries, which at different stages directly and directly influenced the formation of the Cuban legal culture (Spain, the USA, and then the USSR).
