The work is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the formation of the doctrine of children’s rights in the United States of America. It is determined that the development of judicial practice and legislation had the greatest impact on the formation of this doctrine in the United States. The article presents significant court decisions of the 20th century, which enshrine some of the rights of children. As a result of the research, the author comes to the conclusion that in the twentieth century in the United States, due to the development of the legislative system and the adoption of regulations, the doctrine of children’s rights underwent changes, which led to the legal consolidation of the understanding of the child as a person who is ready to make independent decisions and act separately from other persons, in particular from parents.
