One of the brightest mottos, which gave evidence on the radical turn in the imperial area of Europe, was the plea for self-determination of people. Such a phenomenon appeared in Europe, where the centers of three largest states - the British, Russian and Austro-Hungarian Empires were situated. In this context, it is interesting to know how the motto of self-determination finds its practical appliance in activities of various political forces. At present, it is obvious that under modern conditions, states, which are destined to personify western democracy, face the legacy of political realia, which appeared in the beginning of the XX century. Throughout the whole XX and the beginning of XXI centuries, the representatives of Western Europe with the assistance of the USA decided when it is necessary to approve the movements for national self-determination. “History boomerang” returned to those, who tried to conceal the problems of national self-determination.
