Law enforcement agencies of Russia: types, status and functions

The article provides a brief general legal description of the law enforcement agencies operating in modern Russia, which carry out the functions of the state in the sphere of combating crime and other offenses, maintaining public order, ensuring state security and other related areas. The types of law enforcement agencies are shown in the context of the entire law enforcement system. Law enforcement agencies include: the prosecutor's office, internal affairs agencies, state security agencies, the Investigative Committee, the Bailiff Service, the Russian Guard, the Federal Penitentiary Service. Federal Customs Service. Based on the analysis of the relevant federal laws, presidential decrees, and government regulations, the main functions and powers of law enforcement agencies are disclosed. It is noted that all law enforcement agencies belong to the federal level of public authority, and most of them, with the exception of the prosecutor's office and the Investigative Committee, are executive authorities.
