The article analyzes N. D. Talber’s historiosophy and its Orthodox foundations. Russian history is based on the application of the principle of “symphony of the authorities” to it as a measure of the church-like life of the Russian people, and hence the entire Christian meaning of Russian history. This ecclesiocentric vision of Russian history, in which the history of Russia was understood as the history of the people of God, and all the events of Russian history are important insofar as they are connected with the earthly existence of the Church of Christ. N. D. Talberg belongs to the type of historian-publicist, and his personological method gives spiritual biographies of outstanding figures of Russian history, a kind of “secular lives”, through which the Orthodox meaning and spiritual driving forces of Russian history are revealed.
