Orthodox tradition of naming in the works of I. S. Schmelev

The article discusses the anthropological features of the complex in the novel of I. S. Shmelev “The Way of Heaven” and in other works of the writer. When naming characters in his works, the writer has used all the potential possibilities inherent in the name, including etymology, association, phonetic features and the so-called folk etymology. The author comes to the conclusion that the anthroponyms used in the works of Shmelev conform to Orthodox norms of naming.
