Legal statistics as an independent direction of prosecutor's supervision

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to consider legal statistics as an independent section of Prosecutor’s supervision. For this purpose, the main functions of the Prosecutor’s office are described, and the forms of reporting on various types of Prosecutor’s activities are described. Methodology: The article uses analytical, theoretical and formal legal methods. Results: Statistical data are collected in all areas of prosecutorial activity that are stipulated by law. The system of Prosecutor’s legal statistics also includes state (Federal) interdepartmental statistical reporting. Data from Federal statistical observation forms are formed taking into account the control and Supervisory powers of the Prosecutor to verify the accuracy and completeness of the subjects ‘ recording of crimes. It is concluded that the Prosecutor is the only procedural figure who is not interested in distorting statistical data on the results of the investigation. It is the lack of any interest in the distortion of statistical data on the results of the investigation, and therefore data on crime, contributes to securing the effective implementation of prosecutorial oversight in the area of legal statistics, the adoption of effective management solutions aimed at combating crime. That is why statistics act as an independent direction of Prosecutor’s supervision. Novelty/originality/value: the Study reveals the essence of the statistical aspect of the Prosecutor’s supervision, which is usually not considered as an independent direction of the Prosecutor’s activity. It is proposed to fix in article 1 of the Federal law «on the Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation» the Prosecutor’s conduct of legal statistics as an independent direction of Supervisory activity. The originality of the work is emphasized by the studied normative acts, which the author refers to during the analysis. The value of the work consists in a detailed analysis of the issues raised in the article and a detailed answer to them.
