The legal tradition of international religious organizations handling to the matters of international humanitarian law

The article deals the importance of international humanitarian law matters in the activity of international religious organizations. It shows that the worlds religions had played an important role in the development of international humanitarian law at the different historical instances, trying to prevent the horrors of war. At the present stage there was a legal tradition of international religious organizations handling to such matters of international humanitarian law as the protection of victims of armed conflicts and the prohibition of new means and methods of warfare. This paper addresses the issue about the inclusion of international humanitarian law standards in the constitutive and policy papers of the international religious organizations and about their role in preventing conflicts on religious grounds.
