Legal and evidential significance of confession of guilt in the current Russian Criminal Code

In the presented work the differentiation of legal and evidentiary value of confession of guilt in the Russian criminal proceedings is carried out. The purposeful nuanced analysis of the term "confession" both from legal and etymological approaches is represented. The conclusion that confession of guilt matters not only as a legally significant act for the adoption of certain legal decisions but also as the probation is validated.
