Legal status and problems of criminal justice, carried by a single judge

This article is devoted to the realisation in the Russian legal system of the institution of the criminal case sitting of a single judge. On the analysis of the law provision, court practice, statistics, theses of the criminal procedure studies the major problems of organisation of modern legal proceedings (court workload, court errors, problems of personnel selection of judges, etc.) are presented and the recommendation on tackling these problems and legislation perfection are given.
