Legal regulation of the implementation of public control in the field of oil and gas production in the Republic of Iraq

The article is devoted to consideration of the peculiarities of legal regulation of organization and implementation of public control in the energy sector of the Republic of Iraq. The author examines the content and functioning of the organizational and legal mechanism of control over compliance with requirements in the field of oil and gas production, which includes international and domestic levels of implementation. As a result of the analysis, it is concluded that external control carried out by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries not only plays a key role in stabilizing oil prices worldwide, but also strengthens domestic economic stability and sustainability of the member states of this association. During the analysis of the internal mechanism of public control in the oil and gas industry of the Republic of Iraq, a low degree of efficiency of its implementation was revealed, due to insufficient normative legal regulation of this area.
