The article presents a general description of the legal basis of the category «justice», which has a regulatory significance for the multifaceted field of social relations and sets the legal and moral standards of human behavior in society. Revealing the factor of conjugation of justice with the process of functioning of a democratic rule of law, the authors focus on the relevance of taking into account certain conclusions of thinkers of previous generations, appealing to justice as a condition for ensuring the rule of law and reflecting on the legal nature of the noted category.
