Wetlands, together with forests and oceans, are known as the world’s “three major ecosystems” and are of immense value in regulating the climate, nourishing water, purifying pollution, and providing living places for plants and animals. Wetlands play an important role in water security and water restoration, interact with climate change. In recent years, China has actively adhered to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and in 2022, it enacted the Wetland Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China. “Ecological civilization” was written into the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China in 2018, and “ecological civilization construction” has become the legislative purpose of many Chinese laws, promoting the protection of ecosystems, including wetlands, while at the same time, China has set up special environmental protection tribunals to resolve ecological cases, including wetland issues. China has made many practical efforts for wetland protection and climate improvement.
