Legal aspects of establishing the origin of children: general characteristic of Russian family law

Motherhood, childhood, and the family are under special state protection, especially in light of the demographic policy pursued by the current Russian government. Every child has the right to live and be brought up in a family, to know their parents, to live together with them, and has the right to receive care from them. Institute for determining the origin of the child (including children born as a result of the use of methods of assisted reproductive technology) it is intended to ensure the realization of these and many other rights of the child. The article pays equal attention to the most relevant aspects of the development of the institution of establishing the origin of a child in the family legislation of our country during the periods of Ancient Russia, the adoption of Christianity, the rule of Peter I and Alexander I, the Soviet period and modern Russian family legislation. The issue of surrogacy is briefly discussed.
