The article focuses on the study of culture-specific perception of Sherlock Holmes as a cultural hero in modern British and Russian cultures. Analysis of websites, questionnaire data and A. Conan Doyle’s works alongside with the most popular film versions of the books makes it possible to shed some light on the differences and similarities of the perceptions in the two cultures and the factors that shape our cultural perception of literary characters.
