Preoperative diagnostics of morphostructure of carotid artery atherosclerotic lesions in patients with chronic cerebral ischemia

The article deals with the capabilities of multispiral computed tomographic angiography (MSCTA) to obtain an unbiased assessment of morphological structure and complications of brachycephalous artery atherosclerotic lesions in 2 groups of patients with carotid artery stenosis being more or less than 70 %. With indications for surgery determined, this technique allows to rely not only on the severity of carotid artery stenosis but on a critical criterion - atherosclerotic plaque structure as well.
