The article is devoted to the study of the prerequisites and possibilities for improving the methodological support for assessing the level of digitalization of economic systems. It is substantiated that the methodological support for the assessment should combine objective quantitative data (the level of AI implementation, automation of processes) with qualitative assessments. It is this synthesis that allows us to form a holistic understanding of digital transformation, which is necessary for making strategic decisions at different levels of management. The absence of such tools not only complicates forecasting the consequences of digitalization, but also threatens the sustainability of development, since managing the digital transformation of economic systems without a reliable analytical base becomes reactive.
