Background economic integration of the Altai region in the Eurasian Economic Union

The subject of study in this article are the prospects of integration relations of the border region of Altai region Russia with the neighboring territories of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. Based on an analysis of existing integration preconditions, evolution of Russian-Kazakh relations, as well as current geopolitical conditions, it is concluded that the deepening of integration processes on the territory of the states under consideration is important not only in terms of economic development but also political inde-pendence.
