The study considers the main ideological reasons that do not allow creating a holistic science-based concept of overcoming the ecological crisis that is equally suitable for both different national states and cultures. The historical forms of the representation of the natural environment in the minds of people are described; the consistency of anthropocentrism in each of these forms is shown. The study notes the downside of multiculturalism which prevents the adaptation of socialized citizens of the Earth to collaboration within a unified plan for resolving the ecological crisis. The strict limits of certain sciences and the lack of a tool for analyzing the holistic evolution process of humankind and biosphere in the collective consciousness impede the development of a scientific strategy for behavior of each person. The concept of ecocentric thinking is proposed to implement the co-evolutionary strategy of the development of the world society and the biosphere, which allows overcoming the global ecological crisis.
