Correlations of cognitive motivation with individual characteristics of sophomore students

The issues associated with experiencing of a so called «sophomore slump» are discussed; one of the negative outcomes of this phenomenon is a decrease in educational motivation so the results obtained during correlation analyses that allowed us to reveal several correlations between cognitive motivation and individual characteristics of second-year students that are believed to be possible resources of coping with the identity crisis and increasing the effectiveness of learning activity are presented.
