Preliminary remarks on the spiritual nature of the aesthetic

In the present article, the author atempts to explain the meanings of true quality and the placement of aesthetic taste in the human will, understood in its existential- ascetic, and, in this sense, original meaning. Tis allows us to speak of the dual reality of the aesthetic, realized sometimes as the syndrome of a self-sufficient “I” faced with its separation from the divine source of being, and, sometimes, as an image of the Eucharistic organization of creation with respect to the Creator. In the later case, eschatology, asceticism, denial, and distance take on a special and decisive role as companions of thanksgiving. Elements of this connected asceticism are realized far beyond religion, for example, in artistic creativity. However, as everything in the space of ascetic things, they are never free of the risk of delusion. In this article, a number of literary and cinematographic texts are reviewed for the purpose of identifying ascetically colored aesthetics.
