The theory of functions department of the Kuban State University of the 70-80s of the last century could rightfully be called the center of the scientific direction in the field of application of symmetrization methods in theory of function. The founder of the department, professor Igor P. Mityuk, was one of the few Soviet mathematicians who guessed the powerful potential of the symmetrization method in problems of theory of function. By now it is the only department of the faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Kuban State University, which has preserved its original name, original direction and its own scientific traditions. One of the I.P. Mityuk's project was organizing school-conferences. At different times hundreds of Russian mathematicians, postgraduate students and students took part in the work of the school-conference. The participants were represented by the largest Soviet schools in the theory of functions: Leningrad, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Tomsk, Krasnodar, Donetsk, Kiev. The lectures were delivered by the largest mathematicians in the country and known far beyond its borders. Schools provided an opportunity for direct live communication, facilitated the rapid dissemination of the new results and ideas, the formulation of new tasks, the search for their solutions. They stimulated the growth of young, beginning scientists.
