The article analyzes using of Internet technologies in the process of organizing and implementing collective actions in Tunisia, Egypt, as well as such movements as «Occupy Wall Street», «United for Global Change», «Indignados». The author concludes that the Internet provides a wide range of tools for organizing and implementing collective actions: expressing opinions, forming communities, communicating, voting, finding solutions to problems, collecting funds. Social media can reduce the costs of organizing collective action, creating a critical mass of dissatisfied people. Digital technologies provide those resources that were previously concentrated in social movements. The author also notes that Internet technologies are insufficient without off-line activity, but they are necessary to ensure the proper level and intensity of communication.
