Transformation of structure of natural oxides/oxyhydroxides of iron as a result of influence of external factors

The results of mineralogical and crystallochemical researches of fine products of weathering of ferruginous quartzites of the Krivoy Rog ironstone field are presented. The methods of high resolution electronic microscopy, chemical and thermal analyses, x-ray diffraction, IR- and mossbauer spectroscopy are used. It is shown that as a result of magnetization under reducing conditions transformation of hematite and goethite to magnetite of various stoichiometric degrees takes place.
