The article presents an analysis of relations between the following objects: thinking, legal thinking, logic, cognitive distortions. The basic premise is the assumption that legal thinking exists and is characterized by cognitive distortions. Legal thinking is made not by the subject of the legal relationship that uses it, but by those intellectual objects that are produced by it: law, legal consciousness, juridical law, jural relationship, etc. Cognitive distortions of legal thinking are an integral part of the thought process. The following types of cognitive distortions of legal thinking are considered: errors in establishing a cause-and-effect relationship, substitution of a concept (thesis, argument), false or hasty generalization, conclusion without sufficient basis. Overcoming these distortions is possible only by means of formal logic, which will avoid many mistakes in the creation of legal intellectual objects.
