Bacteriophage based preparations: a brief survey of current state and future development

In the present review the main features characterizing a current state of therapeutic and prophylactic drugs bacteriophages manufacturing and use are described. The development trends of preparations are outlined. The article introduces the list of bacteriophage based products, the main fields of their use and the actual examples of phage usage in clinical practice and in antiepidemic actions in general. The basic advantages of phages compared to antibiotics are also given.
