The article is devoted to the problems of teaching psychology as a compulsory subject at universities, for which this discipline is not a major. A detailed analysis of several specifi c problems faced by teachers of psychology as a non-core discipline is given; possible ways of removing, or overcoming, these problems are suggested. The article is written on the basis of many years of experience in teaching psychology, using the principles of interdisciplinary links, polycontextual presentation, a combination of fundamentality and practical orientation. The article may be of interest to teachers of philosophy and other required non-core disciplines.
